About The Volunteer Centre

The Volunteer Centre is a non profit organisation for local and international Volunteers. With our global network of voluntary service organisations, relationships with local and national NGO´s and communities, we have placed, educated and supported Volunteers for more than 30 years. We provide unique volunteer opportunities with the objective of bridging the cultural gap between South Africa and other nations as well as provide the immersive experience to help those who really need it and to make a difference.

History

South Africa's first Volunteer Center (originally Voluntary Aid Bureau) started in Cape Town in 1979, as a project of the International Year of the Child. This office opened in 1980, first organised by volunteers. It soon became clear there was a great need for such a service. The Volunteer Center team includes a volunteer management committee, paid staff and many wonderful volunteers.

Vision and Mission

Motivate and develop effective volunteering through consultation, training, information and placement services for the benefit of all. We want to help in building a nation that cares!

I've been involved with the Volunteer Centre since 2009,where I was part of the Cultural Exchange Program in as participant. It was certainly one of my best experiences ever in terms of learning new cultures ,making new friends and too just enjoy volunteering. A big focus about volunteering is discovering your own gifts and talents and by identifying it you grow as an individual. Volunteering shouldn't be a Hassle its passion. Please sign up and make a difference!
